Long time no post!

If you read my last post, you’ll know why I stopped blogging for this past month (read it here). The purpose of the hiatus was to figure out if I wanted to continue blogging or not.

Well, the verdict is made – I am going to stop blogging here on wordpress (*gasp*). I would love to continue posting here on Pursuit of Prep but after time spent away from it as well as praying about it, I think it is for the better that I leave this blog. The main reason why I feel I should no longer blog is the time constraint. I had loved coming up with content and doing outfit shoots and such, but I’ve been far more busy this year than ever before, and that probably is never going to lessen throughout the next several years. Yes, I could just post less frequently, but another main reason is that I do not feel called to blog anymore.

This was a big decision for my because my blog was a big part of my life for a year and most of my free time was spent blogging.  Although much of my time went into Pursuit of Prep, I liked it that way, but as I’ve mentioned before, I strive to live more intentionally which means looking at parts of my life and separating out why I do what I do and why I don’t do what I don’t do. Because of that, the ultimate decision was to quit blogging.

I will definitely still be using my social media outlets (mainly Instagram and Tumblr) so those will be my only source of content, so I’ll be posting the usual: fashion, food, etc.

Thank you so much for reading and supporting my blog for the last year!

On Being Intentional

Lately, over the past month or so, I haven’t had to motivation to blog much and I figured it was time for some explanation of why that is.

When my one year “blogiversary” came and passed, so came thoughts of doubt. Those thoughts have been concentrated mainly in why I’m blogging and what I am getting out of blogging personally. Right now, I couldn’t answer those questions with honesty or certainty. Being intentional is a virtue I truly admire and it essentially means that you know why you do what you do, and why you don’t do what you don’t do. And so, I want to be intentional with my what I spend my time on, especially because blogging accounts for much of my time and energy, which is why I’ve decided to leave it at that for now and take a month long hiatus from blogging.

I am not sure yet about how the blog will look for me following the hiatus, but check back in late February to hear what I have to say on the matter.

I will still be posting on Instagram @pursuitofprepblog! Find me also on Tumblr with the username pursuitofprepblog also.

New Year, New You

It’s no secret that one of the top new year’s resolution on just about everyone’s list is to get fit. I don’t know about y’all, but new workout gear is motivation enough for me to get to the gym, and brands have seriously been stepping up their activewear lines in the past year or so (or maybe that’s just me who thinks that) and now working out in style caters to all budgets and shapes!

budget options

Holiday spending has pretty much wiped out most of my money, so inexpensive active clothing from Forever 21 is always a go to. Their activewear is not only inexpensive, but oh so pretty! Old Navy is also a great place to buy athletic clothing without breaking the bank. Below are all adorable pieces from Forever 21.

criss cross sports bra

twist-front pullover

zip-up jacket

caged sports bra

space dye leggings

marble sports bra (SWOON)

tech heathered leggings

non-budget options

If you’re willing to invest a little more in activewear, you’ll be able to tell the quality is substantially better but still just as cute! Lululemon is a favorite among just about everyone, and Nike and Zella are great brands as well!

Nice to Pleat You

I’ve had this sweater since early fall and haven’t known what to wear it with, but this burgundy skirt bought on black friday has been a favorite skirt of mine and matches really nicely with the cardigan. I really love the whole “ivy style” look of this outfit and the individual pieces themselves are all items I can incorporate into any look, whether that be more preppy, dressy, or relaxed.

New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year!!

I’m not going to try and tell myself that its a new year, so I must be a new me because I am only capable of so much self improvement and I know that God has vastly different plans for my life. It’s not my place to  write my own story and be in control of everything. However, there is absolutely no harm in setting resolutions for the new year, so here are mine!

get healthy

This is the top priority for most Americans for the New Year, and I can see why. This year I will be taking much better care of my body in terms of what I put into it and the physical activity I do.

grow my blog

I still haven’t sat down and set specific guidelines for my exact goals or how I will achieve this resolution but I’ll be working hard and learning new things all the time, and with that, comes results.

set a budget and save money

I now have hardly any money to my name whereas a few months ago I had quite a bit, and it’s embarrassing that I’ve spent so much in such a little time. I got really down on myself for spending all my hard earned money so this year I’m determined to earn all that money back & more.

be more outgoing

I definitely envy when someone can carry on a conversation well with just about anyone, and although I already would say I smile and talk to strangers, I’d like to really go out of my way to talk to strangers or people I’m not so well acquainted with.

do yoga & exercise often

Going along with general healthiness, I’d love to get back into doing yoga because it has so many personal and physical benefits. I also will be exercising more often (hopefully with some sort of schedule) as opposed to whenever I’m feeling it, which isn’t too often.

spend time with Jesus daily

My goal in this is to be way more intentional in setting aside time daily to spend with God, specifically immersing myself in the Word because I tend to put reading the Bible on the back burner.

stop drinking soda

Lemonade definitely doesn’t count as soda because I would never give up something I love so much. Soda, on the other hand, is something I can most definitely live without!

be intentional

Living intentionally is about “knowing why you do what you do and why you don’t do what you don’t do” (source) so I want to fulfill exactly that!

read books

You can always tell the difference between a well-read person and someone who isn’t, and I would much rather be the former.

practice calligraphy

Calligraphy is something I really enjoy but don’t practice enough because I tend to be a perfectionist and want perfect results when I’m only just a beginner. However, I can’t expect to be good at calligraphy if I don’t practice (obviously!)

2016 is here, so let’s make it one for the books!

One Year

Yesterday, the 29th, marked one year since my first post! Boy, I have learned so many lessons in just one year!

I honestly couldn’t tell you what I had hoped for my blog when I created it; I wasn’t quite sure how long it would last or how long I intended on keeping this blog, I didn’t know how many people would even recognize it, and I certainly didn’t create it with any intention.

Now, a year later I’m just proud I didn’t quit because my guess is that the first year of blogging is the most challenging. I completely understand  why that is because personally it’s been very difficult for me to manage my time blogging around my schedule as well as finding the motivation to post. I often felt as though my content wasn’t being noticed hardly at all.

These blogging low points in this past year have led me to sometimes question myself as to why I’m even blogging in the first place which is arguably the most important thing to ask yourself whenever you’re pursuing something. I’ll be honest in saying that I often feel as though my blog isn’t growing nearly as fast as some other blogs I follow but as we all know, success doesn’t happen overnight. Despite getting down on myself occasionally, my one year of blogging has contributed to a handful of tough lessons learned to which I am very grateful for!

I want to extend a warm thanks to you reading this right now. Whether you’ve been reading my blog for a while now or just stumbled across it, I appreciate your support and I’d love for you to stick around :)) To celebrate one year of blogging and to thank you, I’ll be hosting a giveaway!! Check back on Saturday to enter!
